PLEASE READ: COVID-19 POLICY
My office is only offering video and/or phone counseling at this time. This decision was made to protect my clients and their families. The platform I use for video counseling is HIPAA compliant. While the rules for HIPAA have been relaxed due to the virus, I’ll continue to use programs that offer you the most privacy. I actually have 2 programs right now in case a back-up is needed. One is through TheraNest and the other is Simple Practice. These programs do NOT record. They are encrypted to protect your privacy. At this time, all insurance companies are paying for Telehealth services so your counseling is covered. Some insurers have even chosen to waive copays during this time. I am accepting new clients if you want to begin counseling. Just be aware, it will be via video or phone. I prefer video because it gives me more information. Phone is only offered if video will not work.

Comforting Counseling

One of the first things most new clients comment on is how comfortable my office is. A comfortable counseling environment is important to me. I want you to feel safe and relaxed so you can open up and share your personal struggles.

Counseling Specialization

There are so many different disorders and different types of clients who are treated in the counseling field. There isn’t a counselor out there who can know every disorder and be able to work with every type of client. Because of this, most counselors specialize in a few disorders and types of clients.

Specializing helps me do a better job by focusing on the disorders and clients I know the most about. It helps you as a client because you can find a counselor who has specialized training with your disorder and the type of client you are.

Don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of specialization before. It’s still fairly new in counseling. More needs to be done to educate the public about it. Many new clients who call me aren’t aware I might not be a good fit for them. I’ve been trying to explain this more and refer clients who aren’t a good fit to someone who will be. The following sections describe the disorders that I specialize in.

My Specialties – Disorders

Counselors often specialize in a few disorders or issues that they have the most experience and education working with. The following list describes the disorders that I currently work with. I have a lot of experience with drug and alcohol recovery. However, I do not take clients on Suboxone who need counseling verification due to insurance requirements.

  • Anxiety (Social Anxiety, OCD, Phobias, Panic Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder)
  • Depression (And related issues like low self-esteem, ruminating and suicidal ideation)
  • Relationship Issues
  • Addiction Recovery (Drug free recovery)

My Specialties – Populations

In this context, population refers to different groups that clients can be divided into. Some counselors work primarily with children. I work mostly with adults and adolescents, both male and female and couples.

  • Older Adults
  • Adults
  • Young Adults
  • Adolescents (Age 14+)
  • Couples

While I don’t have specific training with LGBTQIA+ issues, I want you to know you are always welcome in my office and I’d be happy to help you with any anxiety, depression or relationship issues. I do not discriminate and will always welcome any client regardless of their race/ethnicity, color, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.

You can find more information about each specialty and specialization in general on my Specialties page.

My Specialties – Treatments

Counselors often specialize in one or two treatment modalities too. There are way too many treatments available for any counselor to know them all. Some treatments are even recommended for certain disorders because there is research that backs up that they work. Counselors call these evidence based treatments. The treatments I use are evidence based treatments for the disorders I specialize in.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Exposure Response Prevention
  • Hypnotherapy
  • The Gottman Method

You can find more information about each treatment on my Treatment page.

Services at Deeds Counseling

The services a counselor offers can vary as well. Some counselors only do individual or one-on-one counseling. Others offer group counseling, couples counseling and other services. The following list includes the services I offer.

  • Individual Counseling
  • Couples Counseling
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Guided Meditation

You can find more information about each service offered on my Services page.

Location

Deeds Counseling is located at 140 N Beeson Blvd, Suite 401 in Uniontown, PA. My Location page has detailed directions and a Google map to my office.

Hours

My office hours are by appointment only. I am available to see clients Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Fridays from 10 AM to 6 PM. However, I will occasionally see a client outside these hours if they need to schedule around their work hours. Call 724-812-9895 to schedule. Online scheduling is available but I prefer to talk to new clients first. You can find more information on my scheduling page.

Insurance

I accept most major insurances such as Highmark, Medicaid, Aetna, Cigna, etc. For more information about paying with insurance and a complete list of the insurances I accept, visit my page Paying with Insurance.

Fees

If you don’t have insurance, my fee is $120 for an hour session. Under some circumstances, I would be willing to do 45 minute sessions for $90 or even 30 minute sessions for $60. This depends on the reason you need counseling. Shorter sessions are not appropriate for some issues.

Payment

I accept cash, checks, credit cards and PayPal as payment. The credit cards I can accept are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diner’s Club and JCB. I can also accept HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flex Savings Account) cards as long as they have a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover logo on them as I can only process credit cards, not debit cards.
